Increasing diversity in the healthcare workforce is as important as increasing diversity in the population they treat. Sikh community in the US is a flourishing community, has always continued to grow, and has excelled in healthcare professions, Clinical Research should be no exception. The right guidance and support can help the community build and grow their career in Research.

Why is Diversity important?

We need to have people with different backgrounds, opinions, and abilities to join the Clinical Research industry, the only way to lessen the disparities and enhance equity.

Sikhs in other professions

Sikhs have excelled in every profession in healthcare, Clinical Research should be no exception. As of October 2021, a quick search on Linkedin reveals that only 1-2% of the US Sikh population (500,000) is in Clinical Research Profession. The search was based on the keywords 'Singh' and 'Kaur'.

Top to Bottom

To improve diversity and inclusivity in the Clinical Research Industry, it has to start from the top. The Sikh community needs to be educated in Clinical Research. Clinical Research career path is not commonly discussed/well understood by the community.
